Utilities & Services in Kosovo | Be In Kosovo

Planning your trip to Kosovo? Understanding the basic utilities and services can make your stay more comfortable. Here’s everything you need to know about electricity, water, and other essential services in Kosovo.

Electricity in Kosovo

Before traveling to Kosovo, you may be wondering how to charge your electronic devices. Here are a few helpful tips:

  • Voltage: The standard voltage in Kosovo is 220 Volts AC at 50Hz.
  • Power sockets: Most sockets in Kosovo are designed for the European standard plug with 2 round prongs. Electrical appliances generally use the Western European standard plug with 2 square pins.

If you need plug adapters or power transformers, you can easily find them in electrical shops, small local stores, or at Prishtina International Airport upon your arrival. Additionally, Prishtina Bus Station and shopping malls across Kosovo also carry these items.

Tap Water in Kosovo

Kosovo’s tap water is generally safe for use, but there are some important things to consider:

  • Tap water quality: The quality of tap water in Kosovo is good, and it is usually safe to drink water directly from kitchen taps in most areas.
  • Bottled water: For extra peace of mind, bottled water is widely available in grocery stores, supermarkets, and local shops across Kosovo.

Though Kosovo’s tap water is not prohibited from consumption, we recommend bottled water for tourists, as changes in geography, diet, and time zone can occasionally cause stomach discomfort even with safe drinking water. Always be cautious when adjusting to a new environment.
