Qendra për Art Bashkëkohor Prishtinë ka kënaqësinë të prezentojë Rosehip (Trëndafili i egër), ekspozitë personale me Lola Sylajn dhe Dardan Zhegrovën.

Rosehip kontsruktohet mbi hulumtimin artistik me venddodhje në New York, bazuar në film, performancë dhe muzikë. Ky projekt rikrijon skena filmash të njohur që kanë pasur identitet vizual të madh të cilin e kanë transmetuar përmes kinemasë.
Duke qenë fizikisht prezent në një vend të përjetuar së pari virtualisht dhe duke ndjerë që “magjia” e kinematografisë tashmë është larguar, artistët sjellin pyetjen se çfarë na servohet për perceptim por dhe në të njejtën kohë sjell nevojën tonë për të arrirë dhe mishëruar këtë magji nëpërmjet Rosehip.

Ne jemi ajo çka shohim në televizion dhe në mediat e popullarizuara. Pa marë parasysh ku jetojmë, identiteti ynë ndikohet shumë më shumë nga filmat, muzika dhe media sesa ambienti që na rrethon.

Stereotipet e konstruktuara nga reportazhet mediale mund të shihen si modele për të tu ndjekur dhe në të njejtën kohë të funksionojnë si memorial që është neglizhuar nga vetëdija kolektive. Ajo që ne përjetojmë virtuailsht mund të mos jetë e vërtetë por formëson idetë dhe gjykimet tona mbi normat dhe shoqërinë.

Trëndafili i egër je ti, Trëndafili i egër jam unë, Trëndafili i egër jemi ne, Trëndafili i egër janë ata, Trëndafili i egër është ai dhe ajo, Trëndafili i egër është një qen, Trëndafili i egër është një shishe, Trëndafili i egër është një tavolinë.

Pas zbarkimit në lokacionin e hulumtimit magjia humbi, artistët ishin duke e kërkuar magjinë dhe vazhdonin ta shihnim larg. Trëndafili i egër është një lule e egër e rritur pa diell, pa kujdes, rritet në hije, gjithkund.

E gjitha është vetëm një tortë!

Lola Sylaj dhe Dardan Zhegrova punojnë si duo por edhe në mënyrë të pavarur me artistë të tjerë.

Lola Sylaj është pjesë e HAVEIT, një kolektiv i 4 grave artiste arti i të cilave rrebelohet me furi kundër fuqisë, nacionalizmit, diskriminit ndaj LGBT-ve dhe shtypjes së grave që dominon në shoqërinë e Kosovës. Ato poashtu punojnë për të ilustruar përpjekjen e tyre me vështirësitë e përditshme me të cilat konfrontohen shumica e qytetarëve sot. Performancat e tyre artistike shpesh vihen në skenë nëpër hapësirat publike.

Puna e Dardan Zhegrovës luan me rrjedhjen në mes gjuhës dhe përkthimit të saj në një reprezentim vizual. Në veprat e tij emocioni përdoret si medium artistik që potencialisht mund të veprojë si qëllim për të vënë në pyetje supozimet tona mbi intimitetin dhe të shprehurit. I njohur më së shumëti për videot e realizuara, artisti mund të shikohet si poet në një kohë ku përafrimi fizik po zëvendësohet nga disponueshmëria e kudogjendur përmes mjeteve moderne të komunikimit.
Dardan Zhegrova përfaqësohet nga LambdaLambdaLambda.

Rosehip me Lola Sylajn dhe Dardan Zhegrovën është pjesë e programit vjetor të ekspozitave të Stacion – Qendra për Art Bashkëkohor Prishtinë dhe pjesë përbërëse e çmimit “Artistët e së nesërmes”.

Duoja Dardan Zhegrova dhe Arberore Sylaj prezentuan një skulpturë konceptualisht dhe formalisht të fuqishme në ekspozitën e finalistëve të çmimit Artistët e së nesërmes” 2016 , duke shprehur ide komplekse rreth formimit të identitetit në një mënyrë të fuqishme dhe specifike dhe treguan ambicie për të prezentuar një vepër të re të krijuar, formalisht bindëse dhe të prekshme.

Vepra e titulluar ‘Kujtimet e mia gjemba të vjetër gërvishin qiellin’ (2016) prodhuar nga Stacion – Qendra për Art Bashkëkohor Prishtinë është pjese e ekspozitës Rosehip me Lola Sylajn dhe Dardan Zhegrovën. ‘Kujtimet e mia gjemba të vjetër gërvishin qiellin’ vazhdon të pushtojë hapësirën publike në rrugën Ahmet Krasniqi 10 në Prishtinë.

Çmimi “Artistët e së nesermës” është një projekt unik që u ofron artistëve të arteve pamore nën moshën 35 vjeçare mundësinë të krijojnë vepra të reja, të jenë pjesë e një procesi specifik edukativ, të kenë takime dhe prezentime për një juri ndërkombëtare, mundësi që të marrin pjesë një ekspozitë të përbashkët me finalistët e tjerë në Stacion – Qendrën për Art Bashëkohor Prishtinë, por edhe të udhëtojnë në Shtetet e Bashkuara të Amerikës dhe të përjetojnë dinamikën e skenës artistike të Nju Jork-ut, për dy muaj qëndimi në Residency Unlimited, dhe pas kthimit nga SHBA të kenë ekspozitë personale në Stacion- Qendra për Art Bashkëkohor në Prishtinë.

Çmimi “Artistët e së nesërmes” është pjesë e programit të çmimeve për artistët e rinj pamor – YVAA (Young Visual Artists Awards) – që është një rrjet i dhjetë çmimeve të ngjashme nga Evropa Qendrore dhe Lindore, dhe i cili u themelua në vitin 1989 në Çekosllovaki nga Kryetari Vaclav Havel, Wendy Luers dhe artistët disidentë, që kishin për qëllim përkrahjen e ngritjes dhe zhvillimit të artit bashkëkohor dhe shoqërisë civile.

Stacion – Qendra për Art Bashkëkohor Prishtinë synon të rrisë potencialin dhe ndikimin e Çmimit “Artistët e së nesërmes” në zhvillimit e gjithmbarshme në artin bashkëkohor, në tërë teritorin e Kosovës.

Çmimi “Artistët e së nesërmes”mbështetet nga Banka Raiffeisen dhe Ambasada e SHBA-së në Kosovë.

Rosehip me Lola Sylajn dhe Dardan Zhegrovën mbështetet edhe nga Komuna e Prishtinës, x-Print dhe DZG.

Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina is please to present Rosehip, a solo exhibition with Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrova.

Rosehip is constructed on an artist research, localized in New York, based on film, performance, and music. It recreates popular movie scenes that had an impactful visual identity coming through cinema. Being physically present in a place previously experienced virtually and feeling that “the cinematic magic” is gone brings up the question what are we being served to perceive as well as our need to reach and embody this lost magic through Rosehip.

We are what we see on television and through popular media. No matter where we live our identity is more influenced and shaped by the films, music, and media rather than our surroundings.

The stereotypes that are constructed by global media coverage can be seen as a model to follow, at the same time functioning as a memorial that is neglected by the collective conciseness. What we experience virtually may not be real but it does shape our ideas and judgments about the norms and the society.

Rosehip is you, Rosehip is me, Rosehip is us, Rosehip is them, Rosehip is it, Rosehip is he and she, Rosehip is we, Rosehip is a bird, Rosehip is a dog, Rosehip is a bottle, Rosehip is a table.
Landing here the magic was lost, we were searching for it, and seeing it more away. Rosehip is a wildflower growing without the sun, without the care, grows in the shadows, everywhere.

All there is, is just a cake!

Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrova work as a duo but also independently or in collaboration with other artists.

Lola Sylaj is part of HAVEIT, a collective of 4 women artists whose art vehemently rebels against power, nationalism, LGBT discrimination and the oppression of women prevalent in Kosovo society. They also work to illustrate their struggle with the day-to-day difficulties confronted by the majority of citizens today. Their artistic performances are often staged in public spaces.

Dardan Zhegrova’s work plays with the flux between language and its translation into visual representation. In his works emotion is used as an artistic medium that potentially could act as a means to question our assumptions about intimacy and expression. Mostly known for his videos the artist can be regarded as a poet in a time where physical proximity is being replaced by an ubiquitous availability through modern means of communication. Dardan Zhegrova is represented by LambdaLambdaLambda.

Rosehip with Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrova is part of annual program of exhibitions of Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina and a component of Artists of Tomorrow Award.

Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrova are winners of the Artists of Tomorrow Award 2016.

Anne Barlow, Petrit Halilaj, Miran Mohar, Milica Tomić and Anna Witt were members of the jury of the Artists of Tomorrow Award 2016.

Dardan Zhegrova and Arbërore Sylaj for the finalists exhibtion of the Artists of Tomorrow Award 2016 presented a sculpture that was conceptually and formally strong, expressing complex ideas around identity formation in a succinct and powerful way and they showed the ambition to present a newly developed haptical and formally convincing work.

‘Memories old thorns of mine scratching the sk’y (2016) produced by Stacion – Center for Conteporay Art Prishtina for Artists of Tomorrow Award 2016 is part of Rosehip with Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrov. ‘Memories old thorns of mine scratching the sky’ today continues to occupy public space at Ahmet Krasniqi 10 street in Prishtina.

The Artists of Tomorrow Award is a unique project which provides young visual artists under the age of 35 the opportunity to produce new work, be part of a tailored education process, have meetings and presentation for an international jury, have a joint exhibition with finalists at Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, but also to travel to the United States and experience New York’s dynamic art scene for a two month residency at Residency Unlimited.

The winners of Artists of Tomorrow Award are also awarded with a solo exhibition at Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina, following their return from US.

The Artists of Tomorrow Award is part of the Young Visual Artists Awards program – a network of ten similar awards organized throughout Central and Eastern Europe founded in 1989 in Czechoslovakia by President Vaclav Havel and dissident artists with the intention of supporting the emergence and development of contemporary art and civil society.

In September 2015, Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina has been tasked to assume leadership of the Artist of Tomorrow Award (AOT) in Kosovo starting with the first cycle in 2016 and with building upon and carrying forward the legacy of the Award.

Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina aims to enhance the potential and influence of The Artists of Tomorrow Award in the general developments in contemporary art in the whole territory of Kosovo.

Finalists of Arists of Tomorrow Award 2017 are Meriton Maloku, Enesa Xheladini and Jetullah Sulejmani. Members of the Jury for Arists of Tomorrow Award 2017 are Charles Esche, Erëmirë Krasniqi, Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez, Adrian Deva and Renaud Proch.

The Artists of Tomorrow Award is supported by Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo and U.S. Embassy in Kosovo.
Rosehip with Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrova is also supported by the Municipality of Prishtina, x-Print and DZG.
